Together

When I was at the Spring Fling weekend crop, many of the girls were doing a workshop on a layout to put in a shadow box. I wasn't willing to give up the time needed to dedicate myself to the project so I didn't sign up, but after seeing some of theirs completed I thought I would give it a whirl. It isn't as fancy as theirs but I am happy with the results (:
The picture isn't the best but I liked it for this paper. It is of my Dad and Azelyn just cuddling on the couch while they watch TV together.
The pic is matted on pink velvet paper (thanks to Kathy for cutting it out on her grand calibur for me!!) the patterned paper is Prima, the flowers are mostly Recollections. I used Graphically Speaking to cut out the title, Art Philosophy to cut out the big butterfly and paper doily, and my SU embosslit and MS punch to cut the little butterflies. Bling is Eva and I think the doily is K&C company?? The pretty border at the bottom is Prima I think??

It looks like my computer is back in business!! I got it back "unfixed" but they actually fixed what I sent it in for (the screen), they just found water damage (oops, darn coffee!!) on the keyboard and motherboard that I couldn't afford to fix ($900 to repair a $500 computer!!!)

It is camp season though, so I'm not sure how much scrapping I'm going to get in!! Hopefully I'll stay ahead enough to have something to post each week.

Have a great long weekend everyone!!! We are heading out to camp and I heard on the radio this afternoon that there is already a fire ban!! so I guess our first few nights at camp will be fireless ):

SpiderMen!!

Wow!!! I didn't realize until yesterday that it has been a month since my last post!!!
It has been a crazy month!! I started at a new school just after the March Break and while there I was shuffled between two jobs. I was just starting to feel settled in at work when THE COLD (fever, headache, which then turned into a sore throat, followed by a bad, pesky cough!!) hit our house. Then last Friday the invertor went in my new laptop and it had to be sent into the shop!!!
I have been doing a bit of scrapbooking so I have had some layouts to show you, it was just a matter of getting some pics taken.
This layout is the companion to the Captain America layout I did of Kieran a while ago. It is the second layout from the Superhero WOTG from CTMH. I changed it up a wee bit but it is pretty close to the original. The pics are of Kieran and his little buddy back at camp a couple of summers ago. His friends mom had painted their faces like Spiderman!! They were so happy and excited!!
I don't know about you but when I'm scrapbooking and can't remember when the pic is from, I usually look at what the kids are wearing to help me. But this doesn't work so well with Kieran!! He doesn't grow very fast and so he wears the same clothes for a couple of years. For example, the shirt he is wearing in these pics, I just took it out of storage for him to wear again this summer!!!

I had to share the next picture with you!!! After a couple of years with no dishwasher and having to nag my teenager to do the dishes, we finally got a new one!!! I had plans of just going and getting the one that was on sale but nothing can ever be that simple!!! After going between 3 stores we ended up with a more top of the line/expensive one. Lee decided that because we have hard water we needed one that had stainless steel inside, and guess what!!? Only a few dishwashers have that option!! So instead of coming home with it that day like planned we had to wait a few days for it to come in. When it did come in, we got it all unwrapped and ready to go. When we went to put it in the hole that was there from the last one, it was TOO TALL!!! Lee wasn't sure how he was going to trim the bottom of the cupboard because he didn't have the right kind of saw. I jokingly said, " why don't you just go and get the chainsaw?!" (that is what he used to cut some of the floor out of the camper when we were fixing it up so I was teasing him)
Can you say REDNECK!!!? We had all of the windows and doors open to let the smell out. MEN!!!

Altered Paper is...

our Challenge #5 at Use It or Lose It this week!! Find a piece of paper you haven't used, cause you just don't like it the way it is, and change it up so you do like it (: You can stamp, emboss (dry or heat), paint, distress....
My fellow DT members have come up with some gorgeous cards and layouts so be sure to head on over and check them out.

For my layout I took a piece of CTMH patterned paper from an old paper pack that looked like this

I stamped the whole page with the flower background stamp from Diverse Backgrounds in versamark and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then used my Tattered Rose distress ink to give it some colour. This is what it looked like before anything was added to it.

I ended up having to glue it to a piece of cardstock to keep it lying a little more flat.

I scrapped another pic from Azelyn's first birthday. (It's hard to believe she will be 5 on Sunday!!) I glimmer misted the cs mats and the flowers. I painted chipboard letters (from my stash, non CTMH) with white and then Pearl paint. I then stamped on them with the same flower bg stamp. All other products are CTMH except for the butterflies. I used my SU embosslit and MME paper scraps.

I was pretty happy with the way my paper turned out, but when I showed my hubby my finished layout, he said "it's nice but I'm not crazy about that paper you used for the background"  ): Go figure!!

Anyway, here it is. Not a tonne of scraps on it (cs mats and butterflies) but I did use up a lot of things that have been sitting around for a bit!!

 Here's a close up of a section

Well I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend!!! We have a couple of family meals and a few Egg Hunts on the schedule, not to mention baby Girl's birthday!!!

I hope you have a chance to join us this week for our Altered Paper Challenge!!

Happy Birthday Azelyn!!

I've been dying to ink up my fairies and after about a year of having them I finally did!! I have to say this was my absolute favourite release at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!! I am so in love with Annie's work! I actually hired Annie to design a tattoo for me based on these fairies. I still have to find an artist to do the tattoo for me though.
I made this card for Azelyn for her birthday, which happens to land on Easter Sunday again this year (: Her favourite colour is purple so I think this will work (:
I used BG paper ( I am entering this in Basic Grey's Girlie challenge), CTMH cs, bling, and the doily was cut using our Art Philosophy cartridge. The flowers are from my stash, and my Go Green part for the Kraftin' Kimmie challenge this week, is the ribbon which came on a gift a year or two ago. I also tried out my perfect pearls for the first time. It all went OK until I forgot about them drying and mucked them up ): I wiped off what I could and redid them.

I haven't added a sentiment because I'm not sure where to put it?? I'll likely just put one inside.

Have a great weekend!!

Happy 7th Birthday Kieran!

My little guy Kieran turned 7 yesterday!! He is such a little sweetheart (: When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday he said, "You just get me what you think I will like and I will like it!" He just melts my heart. Then he added that he would like a big thing of Smarties (:

I started colouring this image for my hubby's birthday but then never got around to finishing it, so I took it with me this past weekend to the crop I was at and finished it up and made a card. I used the sketch over at the LOTV Challenge site so that I could enter it for a chance to win some of the new release stamps that come out today!!
I am also going to enter it in Cute Card Thursday's Anything Goes Challenge.

The image and sentiment are LOTV, the paper is MME, cs, ribbon and buttons are CTMH. I used my spellbinders to cut him out and copics to colour him in. I also used my wonderful new cloud template again!!

I am counting this as one of my fancy cards for the year (:

Use It or Lose It Challenge #4- Paper Piecing

Our challenge this week at Use It or Lose It is to paper piece somewhere on your card or layout. I have used paper piecing on layouts before but couldn't think of something this time, so I decided to make a card instead. I used my CTMH Sensational Season stamp and paper pieced the bunnies dress and apron using the Mayberry paper. I used my copics to colour the rest of the bunny but just used regular cs to colour on, man what a difference good paper makes for blending!! I should have used my Neenah!!!
My dear friend Kirsty ordered me the fabulous cloud template I used to do the sky with! Isn't she the best!!? I love how the sky turned out!!! I cut my image out with a spellbinder. The ribbon was just from my stash. The pink ribbon is actually off of a box of Godiva chocolates 2 of my wonderful students gave me before I left Lockerby (:

Well, I hope you can play along with us this week at Use It or Lose It!!! Remember to use up some of your scraps!!!

I'm off to a fundraising crop for the Sault Ste Marie Search and Rescue this weekend!!!! I will catch up on your posts when I get back (:

Hugs!!

Quick Birthday card

Codie's girlfriend had her birthday just over a week ago. When my hubby asked him if he got her a card, Codie (a typical teenager) replied, "Why? That's what I have Mom for."!!!! I told him to keep dreaming, but then I caved and made this quick card for him to give her. I found the idea on Pinterest (I think I added the original to my board if you want to see it)
I embossed the cs with my Swiss Dot folder, punched the circles out of random (mostly MME) paper with my SU punch (& popped them up), stamped the sentiment with a CTMH stamp set, and tied ribbon from my stash around the side. It didn't take long at all (:

My contract was done when the March Break started, so today I got to send the kids to school and have some me time!!! I went and spent part of the day with my good friend Deb and we crafted up some cards!! The one I completed today is for the Use It or Lose It challenge this week, so you will have to stop by on Friday to check it out.
I have some work at another high school starting next week  (for a week or 2) so I am going to enjoy the bit of time I have this week for sure!!!! Crafting, cleaning ): and soaking up some of that gorgeous sun!!!

 Have a great week!!!

Jenn (:
